It is with great pleasure that I announce the sale of my middle grade novel, Guardian of the Sky Realms, to US-based Meerkat Press, as well as  an as-yet unnamed sequel. Guardian will be published in January 2020, and the sequel in 2021.

Guardian of the Sky Realms is a reprint purchase, while the sequel will be handed over to Meerkat Press with first publishing rights. I am very confident that my babies have been placed in capable, professional hands.

Market News: ‘How the Mighty Fall’ sold to Trickster’s Treats #1, ed. S Dillon

Screen Shot 2017-10-03 at 17.03.53

Pleased to see my flash piece, ‘How the Mighty Fall’ joining an excellent TOC in Trickster’s Treats #1: Tales from the Pumpkin Patch, edited by Steve Dillon. All stories had to be 666 or less words – mine ended up something like 660. All the stories are grouped under sub themes – mine under ‘carnival’ which is apt for a Circus story…

The chap-book-sized title is on sale now:

News: ‘Of The Color Turmeric, Climbing On Fingertips’ published in Night Terrors III

Extremely pleased to be included in the pro anthology, 'Night Terrors III' by Blood Bound Books, with my story, 'Of The Color Turmeric, Climbing On Fingertips' published alongside short fiction by luminaries such as Jack Ketchum, Steve Rasnic Tem, Eric J Guignard, and many others. This is particularly satisfying as it is a story with Australian protagonists set in an extremely unusual Australian setting. I will say no more. This anthology is a must buy. Purchases can, at this stage, be made in Amazon.

News: Black Beacon’s Subtropical Suspense Now On Sale

My story, 'The Deluge', is part of a great anthology of suspense stories set in Brisbane – 'Black Beacon's Subtropical Suspense'. It will be available in most online distributors' stores soon, and through select bricks and mortar outlets, but it can be purchased now from the publisher's store. It contains a lot of very good fiction, including my friend and associate, Sophie Yorkston (Editor in Chief of SQ Mag, for one thing).

News: Black Beacon’s Subtropical Suspense – Great Review

A very nice review on local radio in Brisbane Australia (4ZZZ FM), for Black Beacon's Subtropical Suspense – an anthology of suspense short stories, all set in Brisbane and surrounds.

I was lucky to have my story, 'The Deluge' included in this work, and even luckier to have a mention in the review.

You can hear the review here – at 1hr 27mins approximately.

Great to have this publicity going. The book will be available through online retailers soon.

News: Publishing Deal with Cohesion Press

I am excited to announce that my juvenile (to adult) novel, Guardian of the Sky Realms, will be published by Cohesion Press, a relatively new Australian independent publisher. I know the outfit and they are perfect for the job – professional, transparent processes, quality production. Given this positive turn of events, the release day (and the official release) is a bit up in the air.

Stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks.
