News: Black Beacon’s Subtropical Suspense – Great Review

A very nice review on local radio in Brisbane Australia (4ZZZ FM), for Black Beacon's Subtropical Suspense – an anthology of suspense short stories, all set in Brisbane and surrounds.

I was lucky to have my story, 'The Deluge' included in this work, and even luckier to have a mention in the review.

You can hear the review here – at 1hr 27mins approximately.

Great to have this publicity going. The book will be available through online retailers soon.

Market News: “Crazy Mike McCloud” published in Railroad!: Celebration Station

Happy to contribute to Celebration Station this year, particularly its worthy cause. My weird western, 'Crazy Mike McCloud' is a little different for me – while I have written weird westerns before, they were usually well ensconced in the steampunk genre as well – not so this short story. It even has a bit of romance in it.

Enjoy and please contribute to the American Cancer Society, via the site.

Market News: short story, Crazy Mike McCloud to be published in Railroad! Celebration Station 2014

Very pleased to work with Tonia Brown and her long-lived Railroad! serial/series. Since last year she has an interlude and looks to put artistic work out in her blog site for each of 31 days. I had a 3 part serial novelette last year, and this year she has accepted my Weird Western piece, Crazy Mike McCloud, which is a bit of a fairytale put on its head. Say no more. It will be published soon, so stay tuned!

News: Sale of ‘Darkness in the Mountain of Light’ short story

I already have a reprint, 'The Sea Witch', accepted for the What Lies Beneath anthology, published by Thirteen O'Clock Publishing. I am especially pleased to have my original, dark fantasy piece, 'Darkness in the Mountain of Light' accepted by the same publication. For those in the know, this story includes a well known character, Cimiar, an exceptionally talented alchemist.

I expect this anthology to be published in a month or two. This is my second acceptance for 2014 – a good start.

Market News: Pretty Kitty published in Contrary Cats anthology

Extremely happy to see Contrary Cats by Indigo Mosaic Collections come out, including my ghost story set in the UK, 'Pretty Kitty'.

It is always a pleasure to sell stories to publishers in other countries, especially when they are set in those countries, but I also like this story more than most of my creations. I think it is creepy.

Anyway, the book will spider out into online stores very soon, but you can buy a copy now here.

Market News: Young Adult fantasy story, Enryk’s Strife, accepted for Frost Fire Worlds.

It seems Frost Fire Worlds like me, as this is my second sale to them. My fantasy piece, and Evyntyde story called 'Enryk's Strife' (harkening back to the Cockney Rhyme, 'trouble and strife', will be published in the February 2014 edition. While a classic heroic fantasy piece on the surface, it has to say something about gender roles.

Market News: short story, ‘The Deluge’, accepted for Black Beacon: Brisbane anthology

Pleased to have my short story, 'The Deluge' accepted by new Queensland publishing house, Black Beacon Books, for their Black Beacons: Brisbane anthology. This is a pleasing sale, as it is local, and it is a tale that came to me vividly, inspired by the Brisbane floods a few years ago.

Market News: novelette, ‘The Strange Case of the Frozen Revenant’ in Penny Dread Tales IV anthology

Very pleased to have my steampunk western novelette, 'The Strange Case of the Frozen Revenant', accepted in Runewright's Penny Dread Tales IV. This means I have had a short piece of fiction published in every single volume, which is a good feeling. This novelette is a reprint – it was first published in 3 parts in Tonia Brown's Story Station interlude to her Railroad! serial. The work was a lot of fun to write as it isn't dark and has light moments – something very refreshing. And I think it's a pretty good story anyhow. Stay tuned on a publication date.

While I have your attention, I have had a short story accepted last night to an Australian anthology – more information when I'm allowed to divulge.
