Pleased to see my flash piece, ‘How the Mighty Fall’ joining an excellent TOC in Trickster’s Treats #1: Tales from the Pumpkin Patch, edited by Steve Dillon. All stories had to be 666 or less words – mine ended up something like 660. All the stories are grouped under sub themes – mine under ‘carnival’ which is apt for a Circus story…

Quite excited to have my mashup alt-hist/steampunk/dark fantasy short story, The Place Where Two Eagles Meet, accepted for the CEA Greatest Anthology project, by Celenic Earth Publications, and contributing to an attempt at the Guiness World Record for the largest anthology ever published.
I am very much pleased to have my flash fiction piece, Journey to the Depths, included in Oscillate Wildly Press’ anthology, Anemone Enemy, edited by Claire Fitzpatrick. The anthology is a horror-themed collection of flash fiction stories associated with the sea – something I can’t resist. I have wonderful writers sharing the TOC with me, including Deborah Sheldon and Lee Pletzers.

It has been a long time since I put pen to paper to write poetry, and I am very pleased to announce my poem’s acceptance for the HWA Horror Poetry Showcase Volume IV. Wow – I managed to dust those cobwebs off my poetry brain.
Double pleasure in this announcement. A story I published in an anthology a fair number of years ago has been picked up by Deadman’s Tome – their March to the Grave war-themed edition. Hi, my name is Gerry Huntman and I’m a writer of speculative fiction and publisher based in the Gold Coast, Australia.
“The Chronicles of Evyntyde” is a reference to a series of books that I have planned and written, where the first two novels, and part of the third, has already been drafted. This series’ concept is what started me seriously pursuing publication and a number of my sold short stories are set in this universe. Stay tuned on that front.
I have published two middle grade fantasy novels in my ‘Skyrealms Chronicles’: Guardian of the Sky Realms and Champion of the Sky Realms (IFWG Publishing International).
Ironically, while both ‘Chronicles’ are in the fantasy genre, I also have a deep love for dark fiction. Many of my blog posts will make that clear…

Delighted to have my short story, The Girl Who Floated to Heaven, published in Disturbed Digest #16. This one was hard to sell as it was recent historical in setting, having strong science fiction undertones, and was highly disturbing, covering topics such as domestic violence and suicide. And yet, it was also about unrequited love, and the editor who accepted my piece, stated that he thought it was primarily just that – a romance piece with all the other trappings. First time anyone called any of my pieces ‘romance’.
Regardless, I am over the moon to see this in print – hope you read it.

Pleased that my maritime flash piece, Journey to the Depths, was accepted for the Anemone Enemy anthology, to be published by Oscillate WIldly Press. I love writing ghost stories and so this was a pleasure to write – and as always, a little tougher to work through for sub 500 word fiction. Looking forward to seeing it in print.

I’ve read pretty much everything by Smith and for a good reason – he has a unique voice in the dark fiction writing world, and it is very effective. This is his first novel, and certainly one of the things I was looking for when reading it was the transition from short ficiton to substantial length pieces, particularly in terms of theme and style. When completing Riding the Centipede I was not disappointed – it has Smith’s style all over it and then some. It is an excellent work and deserved shortlisting in last year’s Stoker Awards.
