gday BCG. Depends in what context, so I will answer all. About two years from writing the short story, to publishing the short novel. I probably didn’t start writing the novel proper until about mid 2009, so 18 months. I did it seriously part time – had many other things to do. As a guess, in full time equivalent terms, it probably took about 3 months to write, and another month to go through the editing/proofing work.
